hey guys and gals, i am playing with an ideal and would appreciate your help in reference to installing a new in crate 1987 617.951 5 cyl diesel engine into a 1991 350sdl.
the us army paid over 22k for this engine and it came thru auction to me at 10%. i have been looking for a 126 body 81-85 that deserves the engine . appreciate any neg or positive input as i complete the research. larry perkins lou ky

22k for the engine..
so you want to put it into a W126 350SDL... should just fit right in.. only difference from the 350SDL and 300SDL is that the 350 is a few inches longer

thedon, sorry i didnt explain good enough, the engine i have is the 5 cyl that was install in the 81-85 300sd.

where are you located.. i know of an SDL with 300k on an OG engine and a decent body for 1k

Larry - I don't think they changed the body/engine mounts in the later SDLs from the earlier SDs - I'm sure your engine will bolt right in. Nice find BTW.

Should bolt in with mount arms off an 126 SD.
Might have to find the right transmission for it. There is a ring between the engine and transmission. Not sure if the ring off the 350SDL will let you keep the 350SDL tranny. Does it have a flexplate or flywheel? You will need gsxr to advise you if it's an EDS IP. Are there electrical connectors on the IP? Sixto 93 300SD
