The kit I bought from AZ had a dip switch to select 300ms or 3 seconds. You may want to check yours to see if there is a similar setting.

The wiring diagram above will help with the 300ma problem.
300ma signal -- enough to activate the relays. Not sure of the duration. I'll check for the dip switches. If there's a switch, it's inside the case and isn't talked about in the instructions.

Have no idea what I did, but while re-orienting some of my output circuits, I now have a non-pulse signal for just over 2 seconds.

Still bench-testing. I'll definitely post my results.

To expound -- the 12V/300mA signal is used to close the contacts on a normally open pole. I have 12v/8A attached to that pole which starts the pump once the contact closes. I have two relays wired thusly -- one for unlock and one wired reverse polarity for lock.

Hope that made sense.

Lux,
You do know there is NO vacuum actuator, or even a vacuum line, to the lock in the driver's door on a 1982 300SD.

To unlock the driver's door on the first generation 126, using keyless entry, you must either put an vacuum actuator and line into that door, or piggyback an electric actuator onto the lock rod.

The electric actuator will then signal the pump, thru the driver's door lock microswitch.

Pindelski.com has a 52 picture write-up on this; well worth the subscription price.

My mityvac closes all four door locks, the tunk and gas door. When I apply positive pressure, all six open. Also, my CD shop manual shows actuators at all six points.

And we now have working remote locks!!!

If I ever get a decent digital camera, I'll post some pics.

Thanks to those of you who helped.

Thats impossible, I have an 82 300SD and it has no vac acutator in the drivers door, nor any vac line even going into the door at all....nor does my trunk lock have the switch in it to run the system. Our 83 does not have that feature either. I used a hand vac pump on the system on both cars, all locks except the drivers door respond. You can also feel the difference, the one on the drivers door feels different when lifted or lowered by hand than the ones attached to a vac acutator.

I am pretty sure that only the later cars had the driver door lock vac acutator added so they would open when the trunk lock was used. But that was 1984 onward...so your car must have had the system re-done at some point with the altered setup. Thats my best guess.

Huh, that would explain why I wasn't finding the vacuum plumbing in my drivers door on my '82! I was thinking that some ham fisted PO had gutted the lock system for that side of the car, and I was going to have to rerun all the plumbing.

That being said, I found what appears to be a vacuum nipple on the lock mechanism in my '82 driver side door, so if there wasn't an actuator installed on them, does anyone know what else might be up there that has a fitting?

Thanks, and sorry for the slight hijack..

When I got my 84 500SEL the pump in the trunk was missing. The car had ortho (sp) seats that uses the same pump. The only pump I could find was from the dealer and it cost far more than I paid for the car.
I ordered a power door lock kit from JC Whitney. It came with 4 actuators and associated hardware. I just removed the vacuum actuators and installed the kit. I then wired it into a remote keyless entry. Also I mounted one switch in the console where the fader switch was (not needed anymore). I believe I used a power window switch. The car also had a security system and on the 84 SEL and maybe others there is an electrical trunk lock. I just wired it into the system also.
Works great.

Impossible? What, do you want me to drive it to your house and show you? I believe what you guys are telling me about your cars and '82s in general. I'm just stoked mine has an actuator in the driver's door! Made the remote install just a simple matter of sorting out the relay wiring and attaching the remote unit.

The setup in the driver's door seems to be original -- that is, it looks as old as the rest of the car. That's not saying it wasn't upgraded early in it's life.

Did not mean to imply my trunk actuated the locking system. It does not.

VIN lists the car as 1982. Hmm.

Hmm...interesting. Maybe some cars ended up with them and some didn't. I looked at the schematic from the MB service manual, it does show the vac acutator in the drivers door, but it also shows the microswitch in the trunk. Both of our cars also show up with "unspecified year" in that site.

After looking at the manual again -- it seems to be the later model cars listed. I can't find a schematic from our years. Who knows? I'm feeling very lucky, though.

I also think the very last entry for the Russian site gives the model year --
