OM601 fuel leak @ pump - likely sources?
My '84 190D 2.2 is leaking diesel fuel somewhere on the diesel pump while it's parked. Enough fuel leaks out to leave a puddle overnight. I have cleaned the entire pump carefully with electrical contact cleaner to get it clean and dry, in an attempt to find the source of the leak(s). I still cannot tell where it is leaking from, although it appears to be leaking from near the top of the pump. The whole pump will be slightly wet with fuel from sitting a while.
It does not appear to be leaking from the hard lines or the fittings connecting them to the delivery valve connections. Are there any "common" places for a fuel leak to develop on these pumps. I am going to order the delivery valve seals from Fastlane, as this seems like a possibility, and it can't hurt to have new delivery valve seals anyway. Any help is appreciated. Steve M.
