My 84' 300D turbo deisel sat for about a month between uses. Now it will not shift out of low to second. The car shifted fine before sitting for the month. The fluid level is fine and does not smell burnt. Any suggestions on what to check?

There is a switch on the floor at the end of the accelerator pedal swing. Disconnect the switch and see if that allows the transmission to shift.
