eBay AR 48 Turbo- Too cheap? Right Size for 82 300TD
I have recently purchased an 82 300TD wagon- missing the turbo.
1. How do I find out what turbo should go in- Garrett KKK Air Research? (will any of them fit?) 2. Someone is selling new AR 48's on eBay for $200. Am I missing something, I was quoted $350 for a used one and $800 for a new/rebuilt. Thanks, Will |
$350 for a used T3? lol
They're MAYBE $50 at a parts yard. |
I went to the yards today... there were 7 turbo's I could have pulled for you. Ask Jimwithnumbers after his name in the parts forum. You ought spend less than $100 at your door.

Mercedessource?
I was quoted the price from them....and $200 from my local mechanic. $200 for new on ebay....good buy or no?? Also, which version do I need as above?
Thanks |
the turbo's on the 617 do not fail very often. A brand new turbo is overkill, IMHO, and many others will think the same thing. Buy a used one from Jim or others here that's plug and play is my advice.

Yup or spend $25 and rebuild it. :) |
I bought a used one for my engine (which came without). It cost me $50 used, I pulled it, and it's still running well 2 years later.

what gives. Does ANYONE know the proper S/N for the Garrett/AR turbos found on our cars? I've been trying to do the whole rebuild thing myself - but all parts vendors ask for more info than I could provide. Where is everyone getting their rebuild parts? |
Call up M&D Diesel down in Houston, Texas... There was a thread for the parts needed. Cost me about $24?
I'm calling tomorrow if I can remember for KKK K26 rebuild kits. |
