300d/240d ac/heat controls

Is it possible to retrofit the manual controls from a 240d into a 300d and eliminate the climate control?

Thumbs up Excellent question!!!

Great question......I've noticed, on photos of Euro Benzes that most have the manual controls.....I don't know for sure, but I think I read somewhere that the "Klima Kontrol" was an option in Europe......

just asked my tech that very question

He says that yes it can be done, but removal of the dash is the only way to do it. Maybe someone here knows elsewise.

I am still tempted. Find a good donor car, and spend a weekend. It would be worth it.

Vacuum elements, electical switches and the infamous control unit ($$$)

MB really overengineered the climate controls in the later cars.

Heres the link you should look at

DMorrison has compiled this exhaustive explanation on how to work on this stuff. Not a swap but accessing and repairing both the 240D nad 300D's HVAC systems.

Thanks, Peter!

That DIY piece puts me one step closer to tackling this. It may be stubborness that prevents me from laying out $$$ for a new acc unit, and preferring to pull apart my dash.

I have a spare acc, and plan to try solder repair on it---unless I find a donor car with a manual trans. Imagine--stick shift, crank windows, manual heat and AC controls, to match my manual sunroof! My wallet might just outlast the engine!
