mity vac, was this a good deal?
I was cruising around for a mityvac, need it for the 87 as it wont shut off with the key. And i did a search on the forum, found the plastic one from harbor fright for $40, but i found the metal one on ebay for $50 and bought it.
You guys think this was a good deal? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=002&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&viewitem=&item=120057117222&rd=1&rd=1

Personally, I think you got a decent deal, on a tool that should last you a very long time.
I purchased the same tool at Sears, for a good bit more than you paid for that one, and have found it to be usefull, both in doing vacuum work, and in attempting to vacuum bleed brakes (that being an entirely different story.. ) So, yes, good deal, maybe not the best, or cheapest, but from where I see it, good tools are often worth a premium. Happy wrenching!

I would reckon you have got a good deal as i recently bought the plastic version (not as robust) and that cost me £47 (that is Pounds Sterling not Dollars).

It's an OK deal. I just got my MityVac 4000 kit from SJ's Discount Tools for $48.54: http://www.sjdiscounttools.com/mit4000.html

www.harborfreight.com usually has them for less than $50. I have seen them for 25 or 30

I just bought mine from AZ for $25.00. It is not in a mityvac package and one would not know it was a mityvac brand unless they look at the actual pump where it says mitvac. Mine is plastic but it does have a lifetime warranty on it. I figured no sense in spending $50-75 for a metal one if my plastic works just as good and is guaranteed for life. It should be a good one as long as one is gentle with it.
