WOW, the SLS in the TD is awesome!
I have been using my 79 for some moving out a machine shop, and the looks I get loading mills and transformers into the little car are awesome. they laugh when the bumper just about touches the ground. Then their jaw drops when I start up the car and it levels up perfectly...
MB Techs are amazing! 27 year old car... holding about a ton in junk. John |

It is not a Merc nor does it have a leveling suspension, but my father has a 1991 Olds Ciera wagon with 170,000 miles that gets used more like truck than some people use pickups. He has been thinking about another wagon. I am trying to talk him into a C-Class wagon.

My TD is more of a truck than anything else. She hauls the dogs, pulls the trailer you name it...
Here there is 20' and 12' gate on top, at least 10 bags of rye seed (7-8 inside and what you see hanging on the back) and three Chow Chows tucked inside. http://berryhillfarm.us/gallery/albu...l_P1010025.JPG Since the tranny crapped out and I've been without the car, I feel like my right arm is broken. |

My biggest problem is that every time I need to take the kids anywhere I have to put my center seat backs into the car. I have spoken with some Dutch and German guys who tell me that these cars were used more as light trucks in Europe than as family cars. The W123 TD had SUVs beat before SUVs were ever thought about. Can't wait until I get my trailer hitch. It is on it's way from Holland. |

I once hauled 50 flats of shotgun shells from Austin to the gun club....folded down the back seats and stacked them in with plenty of room to spare. The SLS leveled out and off we went. I could feel the extra weight and see the effects on my fuel mileage, but the wagon still handled good.....just had to allow a bit more stopping room.
As much as we love our TD's, I am told in Europe they are what all the plumbers drive...just a work horse! |

Well, I just drove the 240 to Lowes to get a water line for the commode. Does it qualify? :D My 20 year old daughter has been using my wagon for about a week (brings it back tomorrow), and it was a big hit with her boyfriends dad! ;) |
