Bilstein shock foam damper too long?
 

I just bought a set of Bilstein comforts for my wagon - when I took the old shock off, the foam damper on the shaft was only one section while the new one is three times longer - am I supposed to cut this down to the original size or not. Maybe the shock is for multiple applications and must be trimmed?

i would not have thought that model would have foam dampers inside.
