fuel air leak?

My wondrful 1977 Merc 240D quit running on the first cold cold day in Nederland Colorado. I thought at first it was the fuel gelling. now days later i find there is much air in the line when i use the manual fuel pump--so am now assuming it is an air leak--What could should i do?
