PowerMaster Plus Cetane Boost

Father works at the steel mill in a giant diesel crane. He is basically Fred Flintstone-- He picks up a 20T ball, drops it on large chunks of whatever they make steel out of.

He brought me home a gallon of PowerMaster Plus cetane boost saying that it will keep my fuel from gelling, I told him that they already add anti-gel to winter fuel at the pumps.

Has anyone used this stuff? It smells waxy like powerservice, but seems a little thinner.

I'm going to use it unless anyone has anything negative to say about it!

Part of why I wrote so much about Father.... He's been doing this same job for as long as I've been alive-- It isn't just newbies that don't know everything about diesels!

Trust the old guy. You may believe that they add anti-gel to pump fuel, but there is no law requiring them to. You are young but certainly not gullible enough to think that the oil companies will voluntarily spend money to make YOUR life easier The only concession they generally make is to blend some kero into the #2. Gelling isn't generally an issue until temps get well below zero (unless you burn bio). Try the PowerMaster, in addition to the anti-gel benefits you will probably see a 2-4 mpg increase in mileage.

Cheers,
Jim

oh, I did dump some in.

The gallon says it treats some obscene number of gallons of fuel, something like 2,000.

I know that it may not be the case, but I just don't like the new USLD fuel! It seems way thin compared to the diesel I pumped at first?

It worrys me a bit. That's why I try to add stuff-- this bottle should last me until march.

A cupful should be more than adequate for a tankful (1qt treats 100 gal), I generally use 2 qts in our 150 gal bulk storage tank when it's filled and keep a qt in the trunk of each MB (I splash in a cup or so in the tank if I fuel up at a pump somewhere else - or in the veg tank when I fill with wvo).
