who knows euro'S 240d 1984 auto
I have a chance to get a 1984 240d auto euro for 2,000.00. I hear it might be a problem when repairing. is there any truth to this ie. transmission, air conditioning any thing else. I'll rely on your help to make my decision. will get back after work. Thanks for any advice RAY M

re euro 240
I have a 1984 euro 240d with a manual transmission. I don't believe these euro models are any more trouble to repair or work on than a US model would be. If the car is in good shape, $2000 seems like a good price to me.

Some of the Euro parts are a little harder to come by but I wouldn't let that stop me from buying a one...as long as it was manual 240. I probably wouldn't mess with an automatic.

|
most parts are not euro specific. bumpers are one. headlights are another. maintenance items are pretty much the same. specific parts you can give the part number and order it from your favorite supplier or the dealer.

valva adjustments are alot easier. There is no vacum junk on top of the block. parts are the same. like above bumpers and headlights are different. but nothing else that i can think of

Everyones about said it. I would add that Euro 240Ds dont have oil coolers, big plus when working in the engine.
A few parts are different.. heater fan, vac shut off switch, and more but its no problem getting the parts. I like the euros

FWIW, my Euro 240 has a totally different cruise control from any US spec 240 and has ABS...also has SLS. I think the IP is a Bosch type M instead of the MW found on US cars.

got it
I went by and found no rust, no leaks, auto transmission is great, 163,000 miles, good breaks, decent paint job at least good enough to not need a paint job. next to no vac vines in comparrison to my 82 240d manual. Has manual windows. Front seats were shot but easily exchanged from th junk yard. Light frame broken but replaceable. On top of that I got away with only $1,500.00. Thanks all for your advice. It helped with my final decision. RAY M
