Does it do it while the car is parked and you step on the throttle, or does it only do it while driving.

If it only does it while driving it could be a shot door seal.

Could be a leaky intake manifold or just a happy turbo spinning.

My car (300sd) just started doing this too. It only does it when I really womp down on the accelerator. Will a leaky intake manifod whistle like that? I thought it was my alternator bearings going out.

Is the 200D even turbocharged?

The wistling sound is from a rotating part and increases while steping in the accelerator!

I had one of those that appeared out of no where. I feared the head or a vacuume leak, but I could not pin point it. Then the alternator took a dump and was replaced..... no more whistle.
