Does anyone know if this shifter http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=013&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=230062751140&rd=1,1 will work? It says for W210 and I like the option of plus and minus gearing but will this work for my 99?

I definately have not seen and W210 diesels with it but I do not know if it was ever an option. Maybe for the 2000-03 gassers????

This unit won't work with your E300. In order for this to work you will have to change out and add some electronics to your transmission. Its still the 722.6 tranny but has a bunch of added electronics, the gear that you are in is also displayed on the instrument cluster. It can be done but its a very expensive process. I have done most of the updates except the tranny, I left my cluster in Manual mode so that I can still use the cluster without error messages.

That is what I figured but I wanted to asked because I had no direct experience with it. So how do you keep your instrument cluster in manual mode? Is that in the owner's manual?
