300D Clock Problems
Was stupid while taking the 85 cluster out, and didn't disconnect the battery first. Arced the +12 volt line, killing the clock. Figured I'd do the capacitor fix and see if that worked. Completed that, and the clock works fine on the bench. Installed in car, no workie. Installed the 82 cluster, clock works. So, now I know I have a problem with the 85 board. Sure enough, I saw a burnt trace. Fixed that, measured resistance, and good to go. Installed in dash, clock no workie. Compared resistance readings between the two clusters, and Pin 8 is different. Open to ground on the working cluster, and 90 ohms on the non working cluster. So, tonight I seek out pin 8, and try to find out why it's different.
Just wanted to say, thanks to this forum, I found the bad foil run. I had previously looked at the board, but this time I actually did resistance checks to find a difference. Now for that pin 8 problem......
