Happy Monday

Ok, went to lock the door and the key just started spinning in the lock, SIGH..

I got back in and shut the doors and can vacuum lock while inside the car, I took off the drivers door cover/plate etc and got into the mech that drives the vacuum. It looks like a little piece of plastic wore out and is broken around the door opener area and lock. I looked everwhere I could to find out what was happening or where to get a part, or do I have to replace the entire open/close/lock assembly inside the door?

Also I have a extra key, 300D is my car, its as big as the square reg key, but its round??? anyone know whats that for or maybe it just came with the car advertently

The round one is the vallet key. Works just the same as the square master, but won't operate the trunk or glove compartment locks.

You might try *************** for the vac part, or ***********************, mabybe Mercerdessource.com where you can ask a question, there are pretty helpful. If you have a pic'n'pull nearby, you can check there as well. However, it sounds mechanical in nature, as the key switches between two chambers to lock or unlock. If you had a vacuum leak you would not be able to lock either door on that side, or they would not stay locked... I think. You should be able to manually lock the door too. Have you had this car long? As for the extra (supplementary) key it will not open the trunk, or glove box, just make sure you lock them with the "master" key, when doing the attendant, or chauffeur thing. Hope this helps.

Interesting info...

I would have never thought about about the valet key thing. MB always amazes me almost daily with their inovation and ideas.

Though my Valet key will turn the keys to doors, it doesnt start the ignition at all..wierd. Weel this is about the locking thing anyways.

The fualt looks like it lies in the same central area as the lock handles are attached to the mech of long steel rods along the door insides. When i turn the key on drivers side something must be broken that allows the locks to depress automatically lkike they did just a few days ago and since I bought her.

This is killin me, I live in Houston,,not a good place to leave her unlocked...

Thanks!
