P0100 Maf

Well, it finally happened to me. After all the posts I've seen about bad mass air flow sensors, I felt lucky to have made it to almost 100,000 miles and six years without having to replace mine. I'm now showing a P0100 code which indicates it's time to replace it.

I posted info about a much cheaper alternative in this post
http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?t=105816
but haven't had the need to use that info yet. Anyone have experience with this replacement MAF? Does it work long term for you and does it pop right in with no alterations needed? Saw that one of our members got it for only $55 including shipping.

Thanks.

Len

I checked out that post but can't find as that part number is the correct one for the Turbo OM606. My EPC shows only the whole MAF assembly including the sleeve the sensor fits into as PN A000 094 12 48 and the list on that part is over $300. The list price for the PN in the post is under $100...it seems strange that the extra $200+ is only for the sleeve, and according to my lists it is not intended for the OM606 engine.

When I needed to replace mine I just used the Bosch replacement that Fastlane sells and it worked fine...as I recall it was about $150-$175 and was the whole assembly. It's been nearly 2 years and no CEL ever came back so I think it is OK to use that one at least.

According to the parts dept, that part comes up as a valid number. 130K on the clock and it is original. Every now and then, I hit it with an electronics cleaner spray.

I took mine out and cleaned it with electrical contact cleaner yesterday. reset the code and it has been okay for about four starts so far. We'll see if that lasts.

He's got a '98 diesel and used the alternate part. It can be had at the dealer for $75 wholesale and from other sellers for as little $55. Seems to be a bolt in operation. I've got messages out to both of the guys who I know have used it. I'll let you know what they say when/if I get a response. I think the VW TDI guys and some of the BMW crowd use it too.

Marty - the part is not the correct part # for our 606's, but I am pretty certain that it works just fine. Our 606's don't have the MAF as a separate unit as you know, but the newer CDI's do and that's what this part is for.

All good information and great to know it's a possible alternative to the $300+ OEM unit.
