White Foamy Leak

I've been trying to figure out the source of a leak. Today being a very rainy day, I noticed that the leakage on the driveway was white and foamy. I know that this is what happens when oil and water mix. My question: does this exclude the possibilty of other liquids (fuel, transmission, power steering) and confirm that it's an oil leak. Or might those other "oils" react in the same way?

I'm not overly concerned about minor oil leaks....fuel leaks are another matter. Initially I thought it might not be an oil leak since it didn't seem very dark.

Thanks.

Oils and water produce a foamy look. But tranny fluid will have a red tint to the foam. Power steering fluid ( if not using tranny fluid in the power steering) has no color. Engine oil will be blackish. AC compressor oil is clear so it will be just foamy. Anti freeze will not foam, it mixes.
Figure out the drop point and location of the leak to better pin point the fluid.

Hmmmm....it does seem to have a pinkish tint to it. Most likely ATF, I suppose.

If your not sure, you probably have ATF in the power steering pump. This is a common practice, authorized by Mercedes. Common leaks to the power steering setup are the pump itself, the hoses going to the steering box ( pretty common for the low pressure return line to leak at the screw clamp, check to see if it is tight, or old and just leaking) and the steering box.
If the actual steering box is leaking, consider trying some TranX. it can help stop ATF fluid leaks. otherwise you will need to rebuild or replace the steering box.

The tranny can leak at the transmission, the cooling hoses from the tranny to the bottom of the radiator and at the radiator ( usually the connection, not the radiator).
