Calipers by A1 Cardone

I have not been doing much of my own repairs lately, but I have been having a fair number of brake jobs over the last few years. Once again, I had my mechanic check the breaks again, and he said he had a tough time finding good calipers. He said he had tried 5 pairs of rebuilt Calipers from A1 Cardone, and they all leaked! Has anyone been experiencing similar quality issues?

Could be a bad run. I use tons of Cardone reman parts with great success.

Just put a pair on the rear of my car. I bought the Ate brand since that is what was on before. I'll have to say they looked good out of the box. Nice and clean However, the bleeder screws were overtorqued and were bent at the innner tips (crushed at the radial bleed hole). I reused the original bleeder screws instead. Also, pistons were installed with total disregard, since the raised halves were not aligned properly and one of the pistons must have come from a different brand caliper since it was plain flat!

Hopefully the piston issues won't lead to problems.

I used calipers from O'Reilly's and was pleased with their performance. I did have to change out one of the bleed nipples, though. Don't remember why......

A1 Cardone rebuilds a lot of parts for the major auto parts store.

I am thinking of trying some from Napa next.

Anybody got theirs at Napa? I am thinking they are all rebuilt by A1.

If they were poor condition, why did you accept them?

Anyone else observed the same carelessness with piston installation on these Cardone units?

I just installed a set of Cardone rebuilt Bendix calipers on my SD, and had no problem at all. I ordered mine through Schucks auto parts, since they were local, and they beat everyone's prices by a healthy margin.

I like supporting the shops such as MercedesShop, but I needed them soon, and the price was right.
