Erratic glow light

Having some problems with the glow light, sometimes it comes on and sometimes it will not, the glow plugs are relatively new, about two years old.
Checked the metal fuse plate, it is ok, would the relay be the source of my problems?
Would appreciate any tips in finding the source of this problem.

It's frustrating, I know!

All five of my GP's were replaced in Sept (BOSCH) and my GP lite will NOT glow when the car has sat outside (when visiting the inlaws) OR even sometimes when it is just so cold outside that the garage has become very cold. But when I start it and drive it a few miles, shut it down, get back in to start it, the lite works! WUWT?

Maybe there is a problem with one of my "new" BOSCH gp's. Just haven't taken the time to diagnose it since it DOES start with no problems other than the GP lite not glowing.

The cold should not affect the yellow glow light, the cold only requires much longer to heat up and start the car on my 240D, if the light does not come on the 240D will not start no matter how long I crang the motor. This one is pretty frustrating, hope I can get to the bottom of this soon.

Glow Plugs

Is this a series or parallel glow system ?...Do you know your relay location ?...Could be bad solder joints on the relay circuit board....retouch with solder iron and good quality rosin solder....fixed mine on the 1978 300D.....but I changed it to a manual push button parallel system later... (fantastic starts now)....
