light issue on 1985300d

my 1985 300d has no headlights they only work on highbeam if I pull back and hold combination switch. I replaced light switch , no fix, checked all fuses , all are good , just no current coming in to fuse box at headlight fuses. Checked and rechecked wires to new switch and everything seems to be wired correctly. Do the headlights share a relay with some other compponent? Could use some advise please. thanks

Question Low Beam and Fog Lights.....

Do your Fog Lights work?? If you have your lights on Low Beam, your Fog Lights should illuminate.....and go off when the High Beams are turned on....

also one of the Low Beams (I forget which at the moment) shares it's fuse with the Fog Lights......

Fuse #11......Right Hand Low Beam and Fog Lights.....16A(Pink)

That should give you some place to begin.....

Exclamation Looked at schematic.....

Power flows.....from Battery, Hot at all times.... to
Light Switch.....to
Combination SW (Dimmer SW)...to
Yellow Wire to Fuses F13 (Left Low Beam) and F11 (Right Low Beam and Fogs)
White Wire to Fuses F9 (Left High Beam and High Beam Indicator) and F7 (Right High Beam)
Fuse Box....
Lights....
Ground....all common...

Power Flows to both High Beam and Low Beam when Combination Switch is pulled back to Passing/Flash .....

Sounds as if your Combination Switch has a problem.....

Exclamation I had just closed my browser, and...

I noticed that the Passing/Flash circuit has a different power source.....

A Black/Violet wire comes into the Combination switch from Fuse F6....and supplies Passing/Flash portion of the Combo SW

A White/Yellow wire comes into the Combo SW from the Light SW terminal 56

so if you have no power on the White/Yellow wire.....your problem is either in the wire itself or the Light Switch

I hope this helps you....

thanks from 300d man for all the advise, will be looking around for solutions to this battle. Fog lights don,t work at all , nothing in fact worked until i replaced the old switch. i did short out something during the removal of old switch cause i forgOt to unplug the battery and grounded old switch on metal under dash. i'll be upside down and sideways tomorrow i'am sure, if i can remember all the info you guys sent me cause my printer out of ink!

I love your name, I have lots of family over your way, just this weekend visted WV ,had lunch in Elkins with a family member. Thanks for your efforts on my light issue. I'll be looking into it tomorrow hopefully and think I found a parts car (maybe) . Your photo of your 85 looks great! We were given this car to us by a friend that lives in Gilmore county ! Same color , hopefully getting a makeover soon with the same shade of blue. Soon as yours truly gets around to it! Maybe by then I'll figure oout how to work my digital camera I'll keep things posted thank again ! 300dman,aka,Kevin.

When you pull back the combo switch stalk......the High and Low Beams illuminate.....simultaneously......would not be the easiest thing to see unless you are looking straight into the bulb with burnin' goggles or a welding helmet
