ALDA on a 606.962?

Just wondering, does my E300 TD have an ALDA? I doubt it because i've never seen something that looks like one on my IP, but it seems like an easy way to increase off-the-line performance (which this car is somewhat lacking...TURBO LAG).

My thought is that the ALDA's function is integrated into that electronic control mounted to the IP, in which case I wouldn't be able to remove it because the throttle is controlled there too.

I believe the electronics control the function that would be controlled by the ALDA on the older models.

Have you looked into an ECM upgrade or tuner?

Specs for a Powerchip E300 TD reflash:
Stock HP: 174, Powerchip HP: 203 (+29)
Stock torque: 244, Powerchip torque: 283 (+39!)
Cost: $469.99

Question is, will I get the same durability running more fuel and higher boost? $470 seems a little steep for risky gains in a car that (IMHO) is already fast enough. And I don't want to lose my 32+mpg bragging rights anytime soon

ALDA removal = $0. Too bad my car doesn't have one.

PS, from what I've read removing the ALDA only increases throttle response, not actual HP and torque figures. Just lets you give it more gas before boost builds up.

Exactly.

I'd strongly recommend an EGT gauge/pyrometer on ANY diesel that is going to be tuned to non-stock specs. Electronic or mechanical.

From Green E-300 DT on the MBWrold forums:

IF you are speaking of a more powerful "tune" than what is generally available,
you might want to consider talking to Oliver at SpeedTuning.com.

See: http://www.speedtuningusa.com/

Oliver has a program for your car that I used in mine that he does not show on the website,
and it may be that that particular program made so much torque that I lost my tranny.
I cannot, of course, be positive about that.

He say that there is 222 horsepower, but much more importantly, approximately 310 ft/lb torque.

He is located in Spencerville, MD 20868. He charges $275, and I paid the overnight UPS charges both ways.
You will only be doing without your Benz for less than 48 hours.

Tell him I recommended him. Let us know how it works out should you go ahead and use his program.

Good luck.
