Interesting Way to Sell a Car

I was checking my email today (I use GMail), if you're not familiar with it they put ads/news in your email, just like Google does when you do a search.

Well today there was an ad for a 1987 300TD for sale. This guy even went so far as to buy a domain name exclusively for the listing, www.mercedes300tdw124.com. Wacky!

That is one clean W124 300TD, but boy is that guy really talking it up like it is the only one in the world. Here's my favorite quote:

Quote:
The exterior color is Metalic Gray, the interior is navy blue. The best color combination ever made and extremely hard to find.

Other options also include ... ,very rare expensive combination gray on blue.
So not only is that blue interior the best in the world, but it also apparently was more expensive than the more inferior non-blue colored interiors. Hmm, my 80 wagon has that blue interior and I think it's ugly, 80's style. I'm much happier with the tan color in my 87 wagon.

Anyway, I thought you W124 fans would find it interesting to say the least. Here's the link: http://www.mercedes300tdw124.com/

Deja Vu

Is this the wagon we talked about ad nauseum a few months ago? Multiple listings on ebay I believe. This guy is persistent.

Of course there is no mention of a price anywhere in the listing, but they do accept Mastercard and Visa.

I think it's just different lug bolts.

"Please remember,1987 W124 MODEL is the only vehicle available as a STATION WAGON TURBO DIESEL up to NOW."

What does he mean up to now? Has he have inside info on an E320 CDI wagon coming out?

No VIN number listed either.

He also states:

It has every Mercedes option or some BS close to that. I guess he doesn't know about the heated seats and the ortho seats that my owner's manual show.

Chirs

Boy I wish I had the heated seats.

I was asking the guys at the dealership a few weeks ago how one could get an E320 CDI wagon and they said something to the effect of "you can special order it straight from mercedes". I asked whether that was possible with a C class and they said no, only an E-class.

If you click the link to the Carfax report, which is now expired, you'll see the VIN.

No, look how much farther the wheel sticks out vs the driver side. Plus, the 1984 W124 already has the shorty lug bolts on it. How much shorter can you go??

I always like how he paints the lug nuts as well as the valve stems too.
The Bumpers should be body color, headlight doors are both brand new, possible front end wreck when you factor in the hood not lining up?

Maaco Paint. Look at the paint all over the black door mouldings!!

Alright! Stick on wood! (non disclosed)

All the paint on the drivers side is very dull, obviously a repaint...interior is really dusty.

I saw a W140 300SD (or S350 TD I forgot) on ebay by the same guy, pics taken in the exact same place (they were also as big as some of these), the car was also somewhat messed up like this one.

......hurricane cars??

That idiot finds MBs that are flooded, totalled, or just beaten on, he always paints them a $500 gray, puts in new carpets/mats, then touts what an amazing car and what an amazing find. His fix-up work is cheap at best - I wish he'd go away.
