How to improve a 601 engine?

What can i do to improve acceleration and speed of my 200D 601 engine guys, but without increasing diesel consumption, is that possible?

chop off the roof? put in a flat fairing around the passenger compartment? reduce the weight by removing the interior?

otherwise, usually, improving horsepower costs fuel.

If it has a whip aerial, replacing it with a fin-type could reduce drag 5-7%. Removing the passenger's side mirror (which, in my experience, is not necessary) could further reduce drag.

601 mods

I believe the Fins have done major mods to 601's in the past. Not sure of the web site but a search should get you there. I'm curious myself but my meager abilities would make this impossible.

Ok, let's forget the fuel consumption.

How about those "special" air filters, any major improvment with that?

If you want better acceleration, but don't want to sacrifice fuel economy I'm afraid you're going to have to trade-in for a TDI.

Usually the kind of person that would drive a 200D isn't a speed freak.

The stock air filter has more than enough airflow capacity for a non-turbo 601.

TDI = P.O.S ... LOL

I'm not a speed freak, far from that, my goal was only to improve a bit the acceleration, because with the car full it just wont go!!
And something that could help a litlle while uphilling guys!

My car has a 3.46 diff, i've got a 3.91 diff in my totaled 190D w201, what could I gain with the swap?

Swapping the diff would help off of the line but would raise your rpms at top speed. I'd do it. A 3.90ish R&P is a good compremise for power and mileage.
