Black cap on ALDA

After searching and reading I was contemplating adjusting the ALDA. The black cap wasn't setting flush and had a slight crack in it. Is there a particular spot for the screw for the factory setting so I can tell how much it has been turned? Will it hurt anything with the black cap being cracked...it seems to be running fine.

nothing wrong with the black cap. Its just a tamper seal. Peal the sheet metal off around it and adjust the ALDA if your car is slow off the line.

While I have not messed with the ALDA setting on my car, I have read many posts here about the subject. Some successful, some not so successful!

My recommendation would be to do a 'search' on the subject and get some feel of your own whether to adjust or not.

Just my .02...

There is a locking nut on there correct? The screw appears to be about 1/4 inch above the nut.

I adjusted mine last week. I picked off black cap. 8mm bolt, surrounding flat screwdriver adjust. I marked slot with white out on ALDA. WAs able to fit 8 mm driver, loosened, backed off 1/4 turn, retightened 8mm, keeping screw in place. Wunder-bar!

Prior to adjustment, MUCH black smoke out of tail pipe under heavy throttle. A LOT of grease build up on trunk, bumper, sooted up left tail light. Now a small amount of smoke.
