Newbie 300D Fuel, Trans, Cruise Problems

Resurrected a 1983 300D (138K miles) from a deceased family member's garage, where it sat for 6 years. The car was first purchased by a next door neighbor, who sold it to my father in law, it has been been garaged kept all its life. I drove it 60 miles to a hanger to store and work on it, but encountered fuel problems. Yes, No Kidding after fuel sat for 6 years.
Since then, I have with help from this site, replaced the rusted tank, tank filter, both engine filters, all hoses, blew out the lines, Ran DP, No Smoke, Less Shakes. Nice.
Question, Is there any thing else I might be missing on the fuel system, the IP was rebuilt 8 years ago. What is the Bango Bolt I have heard on this site??
The auto trans is shifting 1-2 & 2-3 but is over reving for just a moment. I just recieved pan gaskets and filter, plan to replace with new fluid. I have not checked any of the vacuum system in regards to the shifting prob. I have noticed with "firm" acceleration the trans shifts with less hesitation.
Is there ony thing I should be looking out for when doing this change of fluid and gaskets? What should I look at next.
The cruise control will engage, but will only keep accelerating the speed, never hitting and maintaining a setpoint. Only a couple of times IT DID hold speed, with no variations, but not often. The control stalk sloppy Not firm in its movement, I am securing a replacement turn signal & cruise repm't.
I believe this may be a control problem where the switch may "stick" on Accel, but really doubt it. I am thinking it is not receiving a feedback signal of the speed, so the control keeps trying to speed up.
After turn signal replm't, any suggestions.
Thanks for all the support, I thought I knew a little on MB's but you guys are great. I find myself cleaning and waxing the 83 more than my 1999 E300. It is a quest to keep the 83 running better and longer.. I have a 130 daily commute and this fits the bill great. I have about a grand in tires, battery, filters, repm't tank & other stuff. It has a slight oil leak below the turbo area, one, two drips a day. Running Mobil One, just like its younger brother. Getting water intrusion into the trunk, both sides, drilled holes to relieve itself. Not sure, trunk gasket looks good for its age. Interior great, have had to remove and clean switches for windows. Can't find any of my old cassettes though...
Pictures to follow.
Thanks.

You've got the fuel system covered is sounds like.
There are two banjo bolts. One it on the back side of the engine on on the passenger side. There is a fairly large clear plastic line running to it. The other is on the driver's side on top of the IP somewhere, also has a big clear plastic line. I don't remember off hand it's exact location. Cleaning them will give you a little more get up and go if they are dirty.

For the shifting, try adjusting the trans. modulator. It on the driver's side of the trans. It has a vac line running to it. There should also be a little rubber cap on it. Remove the rubber cap and then there is a little t-handle key that pulls out so you can adjust the modulator. You have to search here to find out which way to turn it to firm up the shifts. I can never remember which way does what. I think CCW firms up the shifts though. Only turn it a little at a time then test drive, and see if it need a little more adjusting.

I saw the bango bolt at the rear of the engine location off the DieselGiant repair DVD advertizement. Not sure what it feeds?? I will trace it out. The pick up is OK for the diesel and its mileage, but I wanted to keep every thing as clean as possible.
I will check out the modulator and slowly adjust same.

Thanks,

Any info on the cruise from anyone will be greatly appreciated !!!
