84 sd runs good then bad??

My recently put on the road sd runs real nice starts great then will run lousy as if one cylinder is not firing real good and it will start bad.

It seems to be intermittent.

Background--268000 miles good glow plugs, sat for 10 months, valves adjusted, put in a tank of fresh fuel, it gets better than lapses into bad again.

maybe just sticky valves or ???
