Is there no hope for my addiction!
On the road as usual. This time in the Northeast. Checked Craigslist before leaving and made a couple of appointments to see some diesel MB's. Came across this 300 TD and picked it up dirt cheap! Needs some cosmetics but the thing runs like a bat out of hell! Makes me think something is wrong with my 300DT. I've never driven a diesel this fast!
The guy I got it from collects old cars and bought this one from a friend of his for parts but after taking the fog lights off, he had a change of heart and decided it was to nice to part out. No floorpan rust and very clean underneath. The hood has a rust spot and the tailgate is showing rust, but overall, very solid. MBTEX interior and is in very good shape as is the wood. Already have fog lights on the way and will be looking for a hood and tailgate. Wife is pissed!

Congratulations! I do not know why but I love that vintage wagon and the gotta have it chrome roof rack.
Enough, and as for the wife, well name it after her, that should certainly smooth it out.

As far as naming the car after her, that's a pretty good idea although I've never had a car named "Ralphette" before.

The interior is in great shape with no tears or heavy wear. Wood is good. Not sure what you mean by SLS.

SLS - Self Leveling system. It's what keeps the rear end at the proper ride height when loaded down.

Oh... and back to your slow 300dT. I've got one of those and it was slow as heck when I got it. Now it's as fast (or faster) than a gasser. (Well once it hits 2300 RPMs and the turbo hits). But it really flies. I fixed two things and it fixed the slow problem. And I mean slow as heck!!! But here's what was wrong with mine...
1. Look for a loose Cable (transmission throttle possition sensor cable on top of the valve cover was not connected). The previous owner drove the car like that his entire ownership I think and just thought it was slow. 2. Clean out the banjo bolt and fitting on the back of your intake manifold. This gets carbon in it and no longer pushes air into the ALDA on the injection pump as it should. This will slow you down as well. I fixed both of those and my 300dT roars. and still purs like a kitten at idle |
