93 300SD 3.0 roll-out

She clack!

The SD is together with the .961 block. Took forever to prime. Hit Man X, try bypassing the fuel thermostat. I think there's a problem with mine because as soon as I bypassed it fuel started flowing.

There's a lifter noise that I don't recall from before. I didn't touch the lifters so maybe it's just taking a while for oil to get to all the right places.

Seat-of-the-pants impression from going around the block is that it's smoother and at least as powerful as the bent rods .971. Maybe I'm just happy it moves after sitting for 3 months.

The best part is there isn't a cloud of blue smoke! It might be running rich at idle. A .971 pump probably over fuels a .96 block. I'll have to consult with Dave on that.

There are a few bugs from the engine swap to sort out before a real road test - low vacuum to shut-off actuator, fuel gauge pegged at empty, no vacuum to ACC reservoir, etc.

I have a bunch of as yet uninventoried 603 block ancillaries which I don't need. If you need a bracket, I probably have it to spare.

Good job, Sixto.

That didn't seem to take anytime at all to complete. Three months and it's running again.........seems fantastic........by my clock.

........looking forward to hearing how it really runs.............

Cant really run rich. If you increase the amound of fuel injected you increase engine speed. The only thing the governor has controll of is the amount of fuel injected.

Although it is rare, you can inject too much fuel for the available air. The engine will climb in speed but the black smoke evidence from the tailpipe is unmistakeable.

Thumbs up

Awesome, it's running again! Gotcha on the fuel unit it'll be bypassed soon.

And my shortblock worked out well.

I cranked the IP on my SDL about 0.25 turn, emits a tad more smoke at WOT, low speeds seems normal.
