general question ....
does anyone happen to know if the pig-tail extension on the block heaters is a standard male on one end and female at the other.Got a small short in the "bumper" end and was wondering if just any ole extension will work or will I have to just reterminate to save me from the dealer "repair" kit price.Have not looked under yet due to freezing rain.and anyway I am saving that thrill for when my new rear axle gets here.I can hardly wait.....

block heater cord
If you're looking for a block heater replacement cord, try www.dieselgiant.com.

the block end is a 2 pin female plug . a regular extension cord won't work. If the male plug is bad just replace the plug:)

Just go to home depot & grab a weather resistant plug made for flat type power cords, use a little dielectric grease on the onnections as you wire in the cord, and if you see it necessary, some clear silicone at any seams to thwart water even more.

Mine's getting a tad shabby as well....
Folks,
That's an item that I would purchase.....just the cord, not the heater.....OEM if possible......also if reasonably priced....... SB |

used several of these options together with a tad of my own.
1-outdoor plug end male 1-outdoor plug female 1-1 roll self-vulcanizing rubber tape 1-1 can of corrosion X (thick) reterminated end ,expanded cord slightly with rubber tape and closed plug up.wrapped tightly with rubber tape to seal completely.then wrapped female plug completely except for plug holes.squirted some corrosion X into each female hole and plugged together.Weather barrier out and in.for those unfamiliar corrosionX is a (marine) electronic and electrical friendly anti-corrosive.used it the first time ever on a loran unit that had been to the bottom of the harbor.completely flooded with corrosionX,shook out and powered it up.screen needed pulled and repaired but all else worked like a champ.happy dieseling and watch that ice! |
Thanx
