vacuum problems

hello,
my doors won't lock like they used to. the procedure, at least up until today, has been as follows:
1)lock drivers door
2)lock passenger door, which has locked the remainder of the doors, gas and trunk
with the motor on:
1)i can manually lock the drivers side, and if the passenger door is locked, i can unlock that door and the vacuum sequence unlocks the rest. however, i can't lock the passenger side again until several minutes have passed, but then the locking sequence doesn't work.
2)i manually unlock the drivers door, and at first i can't lock the passenger side, but can after several minutes.
today, for the first time, the vacuum door-locking sequence that used to begin at least on the passenger side, no longer works.
also, since there are apparently vacuum lines all over this auto, can these vacuum problems affect engine acceleration from standing still?
i apologize for the length of this missal, but i'm trying to give as much info as possible. thanks
david

What year/model are we talking about?
Vacuum shouldn't effect acceleration but other things can.
The doors should all lock/unlock from the driver's door so there's probably a problem in the driver door vacuum system. You'll need a Mity Vac to diagnose it.

I had a bad vacuum leak and I swear it took me like 15 seconds to get to 45 mph... floored. I wouldn't think vacuum would matter much in a diesel either but somehow it did.

your car should have a separate vacuum system just for the doors with an electric pump iniside the spare tire well in the trunk !
(1) I suggest your create a signature much like that you see below with basic information such as YEAR & MODEL... and other information as to miles on both engine and tranny. This makes it much easier for us to help you. Some of us are trying to help several new FORUM participants at a time and this would be a tremendous HELP to us trying to help you!
(2) IF you do not yet have one, you should invest in a hand vacuum pump with gauge. This is an essential tool, especially for working on these vintage DIESELs.

I will monitor this, " your ", THREAD for a while to see how you do with this question/project.
Regards ,
