Bail of hay in the back seat ,4 year lawn parker 190d 2.2

Its a 190d 2.2 diesel with an ok interior ,clean body and hasnt seen a turn of the engine in 4 years.Im a bit anxious about starting it from its time in the pasture,do I just hop in her and give her a go ?Is a squirt of wd-40 enough to lubricate the cylinder walls before ignition?

Pull the glowplugs, squirt some 10W30 oil into the cylinders, let the oil soak in for a day, drain the fuel tank, put fresh fuel into the tank, change the engine oil, and don't crank it for more than 30seconds at a time (Let the starter cool for a minute between attempts).

Manual or automatic?

If it's a manual trans, tow-start it instead of putting a strain on the battery and starter. On that car, it's probably easier to pull the injectors out than it is to pull the glow plugs out.

You can tow start automatics too. Check your owners manual.

I suppose that makes sense since Mercedes transmissions actually still engine brake. Therefore they should tow start.

I might even go ahead and change the o-rings on the i-p if that is a valid issue on this vehicle as well as the filters and other renewable injection parts including the fuel returns. To save your battery I think I would give it a jump while you are bleeding the system(after you have put some lube in the cylinders). Good luck on that!
