Real-world tests (Fuel)

I was planning on taking fuel samples from each gas station (individual suppliers) and conducting some real world tests to see what is what with fuels for my own eyes.....would anyone be interested in seeing the results when I'm done?

They will probably all be the same color. Not really worth the effort beyond testing them for their gel point unless you can get a chemical breakdown of each sample.

Most all stations use the same fuel from the same refineries, they just add their own additive packages.

This last station seems to be working well for you. I'd stick with them.

I'm going to test the cloud/gel points as raw fuel, then tes a variety of Diesel addatives that are out there on the market and see what combination works the best for the people that live in the really fridgid climates...and because I want to see for myself. I'm just offering the results. wehy post the results if nobody is intersted...BTW how's the snow down there!

At least we are not getting hit by the ice storm over here! It would be nice for it to stop snowing every weekend....

We already do this in the US. They measure to make sure the pumps are accurite, if they are not the fines are amazing $$$$$$$$$$$$.

As far as what fuel is coming out ULSD no 2 these days.

I'd be interested in your results. Maybe throw bio-d sample in there too if you can find some in your neck of the Great White North.

I have done this type of test in my fridge with great benefit, and a further understanding. I run WVO and am concerned about the much higher gel/cloud point. I found the best additive was kerosene. I would be interested in your additive tests, as they would impact my mixes. Some gel point reducers(mix) have large wax crystals where the kerosene (10%) has only a slight cloud at the bottom, both at 30F/-1c. Oil was the same.

Austin TX was covered in a sheet of ice yesterday. Highway department gave up, just started closing roads. Hopefully that is the end of winter.
