bolt size for 350 chain guide pins
Anybody out ther know the size of the bolt required to pull the guide pins out of a 1990 603.97 head? I'm going to junk yard to pull spare head and would like to take right size and length bolt with me. Thanks

if they are the same size as all the other mb pin threads it is the same as the bolts that hold the thermostats in the 617 and older mbs. i am not sure what size the threads are but it takes a 10mm wrench.
you will need an assortment of washers and or nuts to get them out. hope this helps. tom w

I used the fan bolts as a reference and then got longer ones at the shop. Don't go too long otherwise you'll have an endless stack of washers or bolts and it becomes a PITA

Good point, Tom. There are short-ish bolts holding down the valve cover and long-ish bolts holding the water pump housing (the ones into the side of the block). No need to bring your own unless the car has been scavenged.
Injector heat shields make handy stacking washers. 3/8" drive sockets too. BRING A DIAGRAM OF THE CAM TOWER LOOSENING SEQUENCE! Sixto 93 300SD 3.0 |
