i think the spindles are different between the 2wd and 4wd.

i am not sure the axles are the same width in the postal jeeps so you would want to check the width before shelling out the dough.

years ago I put a 392 into a model MB jeep (that says how many years ago), anything can be done

some suggestions:
relocate the rad and condenser as far forward as possible, cut the sheetmetal and fab new supports
then cut out (with a saber saw) the offending section of the firewall and weld in a spacer as required
