Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but '77 was the first year of the W123 diesel over here.....
I have one out front. I believe mine is very early, as the oil filter is bottom left, same as a W115 I believe.....

You may have one......but is it a turbo?

77 was the 123, I've got one. However, it is clearly not a 77 since it has the newer monovalve climate control with the horizontal buttons instead of the vertical buttons and dreaded ACC servo.

I just Talked to the guy.....completely clueless. Insists it is a 77 but since it says "turbo diesel" on the trunk, it must be a turbo:silly:

kerry 01-21-2007 08:21 PM

First 617 turbo was in the 116 SD. 1979 I believe.

JackG 01-21-2007 08:21 PM

maybe replated??????

Has to be since I know the 80 SD has a 617T. The W123 didnt get a turbo in the sedan until what.. 83? or 82

Also if it was the nicest on ebay it wouldn't have a severly cracked dash

It's a turbo. You can see the u shaped connector between the air cleaner and the turbo. The NA is not set up that way. It's just not a 1977. Anyone run a carfax on the vin to see what's going on.
Also, 77's had steel wheels with painted wheel covers.

JackG 01-21-2007 08:22 PM

stolen?
