Just when you thought you've seen everything

Something God awful comes along. For all I know it probably runs like a Swiss watch. I think the director of the Exorcist used the interior to match the color of the puke for Linda Blair. Interesting dash control panel.

I actually like the interior for some odd reason, the steering wheel has to go though as well as those poverty wheel covers

bgkast 01-22-2007 07:48 PM

I like it!

barry123400 01-22-2007 07:48 PM

Just love those appraised values.:D Also this is about the third mercedes I saw today with the needs a tune up mentioned. All said and done that upolstery has stood up reasonably well. Fair amount of miles for that gas engine as well if it is the original.

punky 01-22-2007 07:54 PM

I bet the interior has held up so well because more than a half hour inside you would probably get a little woozy. All kidding aside, I only posted the link for the cars "Euro" attributes. Has anyone else seen that control panel before?

maddogg20 01-22-2007 08:01 PM

that dual climate control is SICK. I LOVE IT

truckinik 01-22-2007 08:15 PM

I really like the control panel , too . However I don't think I could live with that interior for one thing . For another thing , importing the car is far more costly and too many U.S. govt. hoops to jump through , than it would ever be worth .

raMBow 01-22-2007 08:16 PM

Shop class gone bad.

Well, usually if you can afford the Benz, you don't have Jethro wittle you a new one. (Age related satire, if you don't get it you are too young.)

Seriously, I hope that is not some high priced specialty item. But as a trained safety professional I'm guessing it's not NHTSA approved.

I'm in the process now of importing my 1988 560 SEC , AMG , Euro .
car from Alberta , Canada . The NHTSA did not approve the whole car , and the measures I need to go through to bring it in ,and comply are just ridiculous . I wouldn't even think about attempting to bring that car in for a number of reasons . It's simply more hassle than it's worth , unless you really "fall head over heels" in love with it . I don't imagine it will be leaving Canada .

Did you try the pull the engine and ship seperatly.. I know that is how they get JDM(japanese domestic market) cars into the USA...Send the body minus engine and the engine comes in another container.

truckinik 01-22-2007 09:04 PM

Importing MBZ Euro.

No , really don't want to screw with more than I need to . The car is an all original 4500km car , which is equal to something like 37/3800 U.S. miles , and been in a "museum like" environment its whole life . Never even seen rain , snow , or anything like that . The only times it has ever even seen water , was from the hose , being washed . The car is a very lucky find , and I did pay top dollar for it also . I'd rather not mess with anything I don't absolutely need to . I've been corresponding with a few different importers , ad getting it done w/minimal molesting of the car . Since it is already so old , can managed to find a few loop holes , and working with them . The car is paid for , and I'll be bringing it in sometime in the next few weeks when the weather becomes more tolorable . I plan to drive the car from where it is in Alberta , to my home in Connecticut 3300 miles away . It should be a sufficient test drive .

If it really is a 280S, it should have, as stated a DOHC cam 2.8 straight 6 with a solex 4 barrel carb. However, I think the S might be a mistake and it should be a SE, therefore fuel injected. I believe the fulie version of the 2.8 was rated @ 185HP

justinperkins 01-22-2007 09:37 PM

If that interior isn't stock, somebody sure did put a lot of time into that project.

Personally like the green.

truckinik 01-22-2007 09:43 PM

You mean "wasted" a lot of time on that project..,My mom had '72 Cutlass with an interior that color but in vinyl it was more tolorable...

sixto 01-22-2007 10:04 PM

There was a W126 280S.

I had a set of AC controls like that. I gave up trying to convert an 81 SD to manual AC controls. I sold the controls to a fellow with a Euro W126 in Colorado.

Gosh, not only is the interior trim green, the trunk trim is green too!

I'd pay more for those wheels and hubcaps than I would for a set of bundts. I'd pay more for a set of 16" 16 hole wheels for my 93 SD than I would for a set of proper 8 hole wheels. Too bad early R129 wheels don't fit.

Forgot to mention = that probably is a 280SE. The 280S is a 126.021.

I would be the happiest man on the planet if I had a manual 240D in that color scheme!!! I really really love that green! It ain't for everybody, but the uniqueness would make it very desirable.
The steering wheel and shifter knob would find the trash in about a second and a half. I wouldn't even try to sell them. That would be like spreading a virus......

latitude500 01-22-2007 10:48 PM

I must say that is a very powerful GREEN. Where on earth did they find that color And why?

Strife 01-22-2007 10:55 PM

Tastes change. Through most of the 70's, avocado was very popular on appliances, etc and people paid EXTRA for it much like they pay extra for stainless now. This may seem incredible to gen Y, but I was there, and it's true. And things changed more slowly in pre-Internet Europe.

Look at it closely. There's no way somebody replaced every piece of trim/carpet on that entire vehicle. Even the dash, how can you get a green Mercedes SD dash unless it's OEM?

Somebody here has a W126 that is green/green. Seems like their forum name starts with an "H".......

Bruce Kennedy 01-22-2007 11:32 PM

My 84 300sd is the same green, but has a mb text palamino interior. I picked up a pair of euro bumpers for her and now I'm looking for some Bosch euro lights and clear corners.

If Hitler were alive in 82 I'd swear he custom ordered that car . Is that Eva Braun's butt imprint on the back seat ?

hippies

My hairy hippy girlfriend would love that interior in my bioD huffers. She would stretch out her unshaven, soft, girly hair coverd legs and kick off her mokosins (sp?) wiggle her dirty wicken toes and light up some organic from the back yard.
"NOT IN THE CAR!" I'd belch. "Take that dank outside you Quazimoto lookin betch!"

I recently learned how to hide money from my hippy girlfriend. I put it under the soap.

zinger!

That interior is indeed stock. There were a lot of colors that were popular in Europe that never made it to the USA. Personally I like it. That's one of my favourite MB interior colors. I think it's called Olive green by MB. I had one of those M110 twin overhead cam motors in my 79 116 280S. I finally sold it because it was a rust bucket and I couldnt mess around with the Solex 4A1 nightmare any longer. It also needed top end work but other than that when you got it up to speed on the freeway it was one of the smoothest driving experiences I've ever had. And I sold it a 383000 Km so this one likely has at least another 100K good Km's in front of it.

Someone mentioned the "poverty" wheel covers. Those were the standard wheel covers for most of the world. Only the USA seems to have had Bundt's as stock on W126's.

- Peter.
