Rotella T synthetic at Wal-Mart?

I found this stuff at walmart for $15.98, 5w-40. Is this the same stuff you guys use? And is that a decent price on it? I have seen SO many posts on this, and I am sure Sixto will just love another oil thread.

Let the debate begin!

Rotella T "synthetic" is a good value if you want better oil than the average crude oil on the shelf. However, it's not a true synthetic and there is FAR better stuff out there.

I don't know why, but every time I think of Rotella, my mind pictures cardboard.

I use the Rotella T Non synthetic on all my diesels , this includes all of my Mercedes , my fleet of Freigtliners and my 83 Oldsmobile wagon diesel .
15/40 is the prefered weight , but use what suits you .The synthetic might be better for you anyways if you don't drive it alot ,and if you only go short distances with it . Otherwise , use the natural stuff in a 15/40 .

its a group 3 synthetic so it isnt anything top notch. But it keeps things more lubricated and should keep the lifters quiet on the OM60x engines. And synthetic oil seems to be the cure for lifter tick.

I like it a lot. I use it in my cars that are not worth the Mobil 1/Amsoil upgrade.

It's a good oil, far better than conventional oils. It is CI-4 Plus rated. Sure makes winter starting easier than a 15W-40 oil.
