Just when you don't need another one

I am getting offered a real nice 500SEL that is under just under 100,000 miles;
is an '85 and I think I can get it for around 2,500. ( I do think all the important things were maintained but I'll find out more in a day or 2...)

Problem is I don't have room for another car living in a development with no street parking and a full driveway & garage. I would have to get rid of my 300D , or my son's 93 Mark VIII; which he loves but he recently messed up the front end and I put alot of $$ into it to fix up & fix up again.....
& my D I have been thinking of fixing the AC / Sunroof / & giving it the maintenence it is overdue for - timing chain - valves etc- and maybe even new shocks.

So what do I do? I would have to put almost this much into my D to get it up to snuff; or do I go with a nice looking gasser, that I have to run on petro???

:confused: :confused: :confused:

Too many cars, too little time (and storage)

My brother lives next to Boca, in Boynton Beach. I'll be visiting him this coming March but I don't need a big gasser either. Maybe I can at least come by and commiserate. Lottsa good deals in your part of the world from the old farts retiring down from Jersey and New York.

Buy it for $2500 and sell it for $4500, use the money to fix up your current supply of MBs.

Then again...

The price of diesel is still higher than premium gas:eek: SOOOO.... you could save some money on fuel cost (just a thought towards the justification factor!). It might take awhile to see the savings but a nice ride in the meantime.:D

Oh yea, you'll save a bunch of money driving that 500 around due to the nearly-free fuel. Here's a hint: they're thirsty.

crashone 01-28-2007 01:43 PM

Thirsty??:eek: What do you mean thirsty?? 10-12 mpg??? no way, they just sip faster than the rest!!:dizzy2:

I see a lot of folks asking $4500, but I see few if any getting it.......
Stick with diesel. We can't buy every car that comes along. {HitMan and Whiskey Dan might be exceptions to that rule....} :D :D
