'79 Diesel / Gas Swap?
Can I swap a '79 300 SD power plant into a '79 116 V-8 gasser?
If so how many first born children, bearer's bonds, pacts with current administrations ... are needed? Vacuum accumulator, not too hard if there is room or it could go in the trunk. Can I modify the gasser ignition switch to vacuum shut off or go with an aux. shut off? Is there any difference in the transmission ... shifting, ratios? Rear end ratio? Suspension? Foot feed linkage issues? Coolant hoses? Radiator plumbing? Trany cooler plumbing? I assume I would have to swap the fuel tank to gain return line. What is the value of a good compression 130K miles V-8? Thanks for the advice. |

Anything can be done. Is it feasable and cost effective. Next question would be why?

Why?
The gasser has not been driven through years of salt, has a perfect climate control, good steering column bushings, no leaks around the hood hinge wells, ... need more? |

Take a road trip to the Atlanta area. Plenty of rust free diesel MB's for good prices around here.
I'm sure the road trip will be less of a headache than swapping all of this stuff.
