Oil level light + working pressure + full dipstick = bad oil level sender?

Hi,
I've recently started getting an oil level warning lamp while driving on the highway, which goes away when I drive slowly or sit idle. This happens when the engine is warm (coolant temp right down the middle, if a bit low probably 82c) I added a quart to the motor when this started to happen (the dipstick indicator was just above the bottom plastic piece) and the problem hasn't yet stopped. My oil pressure is at about 50% when idling and it gooses up to 100% when the gas pedal is applied, so I presume that it's working properly. This morning when it happened I checked the dipstick to see if I had lost any oil, and it was full. Would this be possibly caused by too-heavy oil for winter driving?

So, I presume it's a bad oil level sender? If anyone can post links to this just so I have an idea of what it entails (either for DIY or to get an idea of how much it should cost to have done), I'd be much appreciative. The oil needs changing in the next week or so anyway..

TIA!

If this is your SDL, it's the oil level sender. Was on mine.

I just read in the manual that the sensor can be removed without draining the oil pan, a convenience. You may lose a little oil if it's topped up all the way.

Good thing I'm due for an oil change in the next few weeks! I'll have the mechanic check it out then while the engine's dry...

That little oil level sensor is $$, but an easy replacement.
