85 300sd floor heat

I noticed that the heat on the drivers side floor is not working properly. so I did a search on this site and pulled the radio, ash tray, side panels out so I could get to the vac. pod(pink). I put vac. to the pod. The pass side floor door is opening and the drivers side is not. There does not seem to be anything binding the door. I can move it easily. It seems to want to move (open /close) just doesn't. If I put vac to the pod and open the driverside door manually, when i release the vacume the door closes about half way.
Sorry so long just wanted to get the info out there.

Any help would be great.

Thank Dave

so upon reading some more posts on this subject it seems that most people just kinda rig this problem to fix it.

I got under the dash into the heater box with a mirror and a light and it looks as if the driver side door is connected at the to of the door to an arm that can not be seen. my assumption is that this arm is broken or my boor is broken at this point.

I suspect you have answered your own question. In my wagon the pod controls both doors. A broken arm makes sense if yours is similar. If you can move the door easily, and it does not seem to be moving anything else, it is likely disconnected.

The fix

you don't have to take the radio, ash tray etc. out. You take the driverside floor panel out and all the under dash vents out. You should be able to see the door from under the dash. I stuck a dry wall screw at the base of the door to hold it open. Worked great, and in the summer I can remove it if I want. Very cold today and my feet were very warm.
