Volkswagon diesel Help

I am looking for some help on my diesel Volkswagon Jetta. Has anyone found a repair forum like this one for the VW's?
Thanks

TDI club is the best place I found, but obviously not geared towards your diesel. Still there's a lot of non-TDI VW volks in there.

I just sold an 86 Golf diesel (same engine as yours I believe). What problems are you having? Turbo or NA?

Thanks for the info guys
those sites i'm sure will help alot, they looked very complete.
I just got the car fo next to nothing the problem areas are starting (99% sure its glow plugs) and pcv routing. the valve cover is vented outside engine and the y shaped hose is plugged. otherwise it runs great, i test drove it for 30 minutes before buying it. the engine has blow-by but not alot. and the only other thing i see is an oil leak on the two front hoses below the radiator.

oh yea anyone used something good to fix a failing headliner?????

I had an '89 Jetta diesel non-turbo and it went over 300K. The Y shaped hose runs from the two ports on the intake directly to the vent on the valve cover. There is no oil separator, etc. in the line. Installing one would be an option if the blowby was significant. The starting issue is very likely a glowplug problem. It won't start well with two plugs dead. If they are working correctly that engine starts very well right down to the single digits. RT

Yes depending on the individual car some of these engines will not start even with only one glow plug out at temperatures below freezing. Also some will not even start warm unless they feel a little glow plug effect. Lots of parts around and sometimes people will even just give them to you for that model. The two glow plugs behind the injection pump can be a little interesting to deal with as well. Almost no chance to access unless you remove the injector line harness. Comes off and goes back on pretty easily though.

These cars use a glow plug fuse, a metal foil inline with the glow plug power wire. They corrode, and even though they look good, may not be. I believe it is on the firewall, on the driver side. Little hard to see. It is in a black holder (I'm going by memory here)...lightly press in the middle of it with finger nail or something. If it's good, it'll stay together.
I relocated mine to the driver's strut tower.
I Hope this helps.

that car should have a cold advance lever it's located in front of your left kneecap, this needs to be pulled out for a cold start.

Heh, I remember that cold start lever!

I had to scratch my head for a while trying to figure out what the copper pipe was that had been bent to form a handle for the cold start, after the prior owner's son broke the handle off.

All in all they are fairly reliable cars, just watch out for little wiring corrosion problems. A small wire brush, contact cleaner, and some dielectric paste are your friends with older VW cars!
