It's been a warm winter -- well, up until now. It's a little too cold at 18 to be crawing around in the dark looking for the block heater plug. I looked in the manual -- no dice -- and did a search here with no luck. It didn't jump out at me when I was looking for it.

Feel around the right half of the bumper and grille area. If it still has an intact cord, it will likely be around there.
Be sure to stick your hand inside the bumper to feel around for it. |

I actually found my cord under the hood. It was routed alongside of the aux waterpump coolant lines. I have to raise the hood to connect and disconnect the cord. At least it's not dragging the ground. I actually found mine by mistake. I was doing A/C work and found a 3 lead black cord. Traced it and found out what it was.

It is possible that your heater has no cord. Over the years, MANY MB diesels have been delivered without cords. The block heaters are installed, but during many year models, the dealer would install the cord if the customer requested it. The cord is quite inexpensive and easily installed. Look on the block for the heater. It will be in what looks like a freeze plug hole. If there is a cord, follow it to see where it comes out. If not, click on Fastlane above and Phil can get you one.
Good luck, |
