Help with SRS light

Ok, so I was trying to install an after market head unit into my car today, 96 E300D, and the radio fuse blew.

When I replace the fuse, I notice that the 10AMP fuse was also used for the passenger side air bag ( this is the one in the engine bay fuse box).

Now my SRS light stays on even with good fuses. Will a computer reset remove the light? is there any other fuse? I read the manual and it said there are also fuse boxes under the rear seat and on the driver side of the dash.

Will disconnecting the battery reset the computer?

This sounds odd. On my '96 E300, the radio fuse is under the rear seat. Perhaps it's a difference due to the build date.

The fuses on the driver's side of the dash are for the exterior lamps.

I haven't check the fuses under the rear seat yet, but after replacing the one in the engine bay box, the radio is working normally again. However, the SRS light stays on.

It is odd that MB decided to tie the radio fuse with the passenger side air bag.

Again, this may be related to the build date of your car v. mine. This is not the case on my car. In fact, the radio fuse on my car also runs the IR remote lock system, but nothing related to SRS.

So, I think I may try to disconnect the battery and reconnect it to see if that will reset the computer and remove the SRS light. Are there anything I need to be aware of for such task on this model, 96 E300D?

Disconnect the battery where the negative lead connects to the body. This is under a small (about 3x5 inches) plastic cover at the base of the rear seat. Removal of the seat cushion is not required. Be sure to bend the lead so that the terminal is not touching ground.

See the owner's manual about resynchronizing the windows, sunroof, seat positions and IR locking system. It's an easy procedure for each.

Supposedly, all of these need to be synchronized after disconnecting the battery. But not on my car, for some bizarre reason. I had the battery disconnected for a full week once, and upon reconnection, everything works. The IR locking, the window auto-down, the seat memory, etc. But apparently my car is special. I have yet to figure this one out.
