auxiliary water pump
 

Hello,
I am adding an auxiliary water pump
that I purchased from a 300D so that
I could add it to my 300SDL for extra coolant flow.
Any suggestion of placement?
Does the pump perform better pushing or
pulling the coolant?

Not to rain on your parade but the chances of causing one or the other motors to burn out is pretty good. Neither is going to flow at the same rate. Keep them and the water pump as far apart from each other in the circulatory pattern as possible. Why do you need extra coolant flow? Running hot?

I am converting the 300SDL to run on WVO.
The tank is heated by a coolant fuel pick up.
I am trying to increase flow to the tank since
the coolant is traveling from the block all the
way back to the trunk.
And the 300SDL can run hot in the summer(95-100C)
when the AC is on and it is humid out(I am in VA)
I would rather see it stay at 90.
Do you have a suggestion on how to maximize
coolant flow?

I used to own a converted 190D that had an extra coolant pump exactly like what you are talking about. The pump was scavenged from a benz junker, the previous owner did the install so I'm not sure if it was pushing or pulling...

Well between him and I the extra pump worked fine for 40k on veggie oil. It worked wonders in the Minnesota winter, made the car heat up very quickly even on slow city streets.

From what I've heard it might be your best bet to buy a new one. Ronak is supposed to be high quality if you go other than oem. *************** has amazing price on the oem.

The auxiliary pump is used from a 300D.
Veggie190, are you saying buy a new
auxiliary pump or a new primary
water pump?

Oh you already have a used one, I would say go with that. The guy I bought my car from has used junked ones several times with success, usual cost around $20. I found a link to one car he helped with the build on, you can see the pump in the pic-

The reason I was suggesting a new one was when I was at two junkyards in CA the owners told me if they were doing what I was doing they would just buy a new pump over the internet.
