its plugged in but what is the chance of the temp gauge failing when i changed that sensor? i plugged the old fan switch sensor back in and let it lay on the head of the engine and the gauge moves now?

so the old sensor works and the new one doesnt, maybe a bad sensor or wrong one?
i put the old sensor back in and my temp gauge works now it that right? i thought that sensor was for just the aux cooling fan?
