diesel injector availability

There appears to be a shortage of diesel injectors for the 617.95. I have checked all of my usual parts suppliers and I found only one who has them. That one is pretty expensive. Anybody have any ideas?

My other option is to just have a diesel shop put new nozzles on my existing injector bodies. Anyone have any thoughts about this?

thanks,
Mark

Put your own knozzles in if you really think you need them. I'll bet that a good cleaning will work fine. Go for the Bosch knozzles. Just my humble opinion. If you go for an off brand check the part numbers very carefully. It takes only a couple of hours to go through them. www.dieselgiant has a nice step by step, pictorial. On the torque of the injector body go just above the minimum torque. Over tightened = leaking.

What do you call expensive? I have Bosch rebuilds for $42.00 each plus a $17.00 refundable core.

I took mine apart and soaked them and then reinstalled. Not really a big job.

Be sure to get clarification on any Bosch rebuilds.

There are Bosch-India rebuilds and then there are Bosch-French and Bosch-German rebuilds.

This is based on where the nozzles are from.

Thanks for the feedback, y'all. After looking through diesel giant's tutorial on changing nozzles, I think that I will go for it. I had been under the impression that taking apart injectors was not a DIY project.

DG recommends (and sells) Bosio nozzles; they are about the same price as Bosch. Anyone have experience with these?

When I said expensive for injectors, the price I was referring to was $60/injector. Rusty - $42 seems about right; I'll call you if I decide to do that.

I have the Bosio nozzles. I put them in a few months ago and really like them. No problems with them thus far and made a huge improvement when I installed them.
