Not sure what the question is specifically?
Nice looking little 240D, with the Biodiesel buzzword used to the hilt.

If he buys it make sure to remove that lovecrap "veggie conversion" and get a real 2-tank veggie kit. Unless he wants to enjoy the car for only a year before the single tank "conversion" destroys the engine.

I love the quote in one of the pics... "These manual 240D's are very hard to find." Umm, excuse me, seller, did you look anywhere at all lately??

agreed, get rid of that Lovecrap and do a real conversion, if any at all.

"starts great at 20 Degrees."
I would love to see that without the block heater, on veggie oil.

Hi guys, colo220 posted the link for me. now that i'm finally on here... couple questions. i've read on the board the single tank conversions are asking for big trouble. however if i was to run it just on reg diesel until i do a real conversion, would that cause any problems? also since i'm a complete newbie to benz what are typical problems that these cars might have. and what questions should i ask the seller? thanks for any imput!

Nice looking, recent paint job? Looks like overspray inside the wheel wells in the first 2 pictures. Check rocker panels and lower fender openings for rust that may have been covered up.

Another thing to consider; while you don't intend to run WVO through that IP, how much has gone through it already?

If you do run diesel through a converted car, be sure to disconnect the fuel heater. You don't need or want it for diesel fuel.

I would ask how many miles have been put on that single tank and approx. how much wvo has been used in it
If it is a fairly new conversion, you are probably ok. If they have more than a couple of thousand on the veggie....run, don't walk away from this.

I thought respray? too; also, the guages have been tinkered with - two of the center dials are black and one is silver.

Hello, the oil gauge broke and had to be replaced. I don't think it is noticible in the picture but the floor mat has a few oil stains. Also had 3 lights replaced. Yes the car was recently repainted due to Southwestern sun fade. The car is rust free. I haven't even found any in the usual spots for these 123 body style Mercedes. The conversion has less than 500 miles since the conversion so far. I converted it for the purpose of resale. I love mine. My daily driver 300SD has over 30,000 on the same conversion.
Thanks for looking.

This is what the guy wrote back to me... so it looks like the fuel system prolly isn't gummed up. but anyone buy the fact that he has 30k on this same conversion?

I would want to know how long he's been driving this on a one tank conversion! Get rid of the lovecraft garbage and find a reputable WVO dealer if you want to convert. I'd go with biodiesel! No conversion necessary, better emissions, better for the engine and no second tank needed! The rest have inspected by a trustworthy mechanic. The 240D is a great car and will run forever. Demand all receipts and paperwork if owner has them. Keep us informed!

I have an 85 300D single tank no mods & have been running 99% on straight used cooking oil for about 2 years. With no problems whatso ever, the D engine runs as smooth as it would if it was brand new. I would not be concerned at all about the conversion damaging the 240D.

Not that I would keep the lovecraft system on it- This is a stickshift 240D with nice paint no rust and what looks like a 9 out 10 interior.

I would run away from most of the above advice, and fly to NM, take it to an MB indy for inspection- and if it passes a good checkup-

BUT IT NOW!! IMHO. that is a very cool 240D worth every penny of the 4500. that would give you years of cool pleasure.
