W140 1993 300SD 3.0 alternator removal

Thought I'd post this for posterity.

The manual says to remove a 140/603 alternator from below. Yeah, how? Can't go behind the crossmember because the turbo drain is in the way. Can't go ahead of the crossmember because the sway bar is in the way. Answer is to remove the fan and rest it in the forward half of the shroud, remove the turbo air intake hose, then pull the alternator up and out. The fan has to come off anyway to remove the top bolt of the alternator. Maybe not with the original 9 blade fan but definitely with the 606t 11 blade fan speedy300Dturbo twisted my arm into buying
